Village Staff
Meet our Executive Director
Hal Bordy has been the Foggy Bottom West End Village Executive Director since September 2025. He has a long and distinguished career in executive leadership of non-profit social service organizations and has had a parallel commitment to social work education where he has served on the faculties of two schools and has been the liaison between graduate school – host internship agency and student interns. He has used his skills in the reorganization of agencies that have been in financial trouble and has had as a highlight in his career the fundraising, design and construction of large social service campuses in Winnipeg, Canada and the Silicon Valley. On his list of accomplishments has been coordinating several strategic planning programs and developing organizational infrastructure. He furthered these projects with successful financial development and government and foundation grants.
Committed to improving the lives of others and addressing the resulting community needs, he has used his influence in funding and developing new programs and services. This has included departments within his agency that addressed the needs of older adults; especially through continuing education, exploration of the arts and advocacy for services to assist older adults to thrive and remain in their homes.
Hal has a bachelor’s degree in history and political science, a Masters in History and a Masters in Social Science Administration (MSW). He is married to his wife, Cheryl, who is a retired speech pathologist and also a director/producer for community musical theater. They have a daughter, Lana Schapiro, who is a pediatrician at CHOP in Philadelphia and two grandsons, Mochai and Archie. In his free time he loves to do international cooking, travel, classical music and art. You can often see his dog, Maggie, and him walking around the Foggy Bottom West End neighborhood. His parakeets, Pierre and Jacqueline, stay at home!

Meet our Outreach Coordinator
Kinyofu Mlimwengu holds a bachelor’s degree in Community and Human Services and a Master’s Degree in Education. With over 25 years of experience in enhancing grassroots community work, she has supported families through the generations as a birth worker, parent educator, coach, and teacher. Across four years as Community Organizer and Program Coordinator with Greater Brookland Intergenerational Village, and the longest-serving member of the GBIV team, she has shaped programming and membership systems, built front and back-end operations, and formed lifelong relationships with members. She also serves as the Program Coordinator for Hyattsville Aging in Place, where she connects with members and neighbors, and as Member-at-Large on the Brookland Neighborhood Civic Association board. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Kinyofu moved to the Brookland neighborhood ten years ago and is a mother of two and a grandmother of three. Her broader focus is helping people interrupt generational patterns. The same passion draws her to village life, where generations meet and care for one another, and now Foggy Bottom West End Village as Outreach Coordinator. Please join me in welcoming Kinyofu to our Village and our community.
