About this Event
Here to Hear: Sound Advice

Date/Time: Thursday, December 10 from 2:00-3:00 PM

Location: Large Meeting Room, West End Library 23rd and L Streets NW

What: Join four members of GWU Medical School Ear-Nose-and Throat Interest Group to learn:
  • the early signs and contributing factors to hearing loss
  • what to expect at a hearing screening
  • how to transition to treatment
  • how hearing loss is connected to dementia
This is a public event and open to all. Participants will receive copies of the presentation and have an opportunity to ask questions.

Who: Divya Kothakapa (pictured below), Sarah Von Bevern, Carson Brantley, and Jan Kasal are medical students at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and members of its ENT Interest Group. The group introduces students to otolaryngology through skills nights, lectures, and teaching sessions, while also sharing practical health information with the community. For “Here to Hear: Sound Advice,” they’ll lead an interactive conversation about hearing health and answer participants’ questions.

Please Note: The West End Library's large meeting room has a system that transmits a quality sound signal wirelessly to all functioning hearing aids in the meeting room. No special application is needed to make the connection with the hearing aid. For anyone with hearing impairment but without a hearing aid, a hearing loop system in the meeting room also transmits a similar signal through the use of a hearing loop worn around his/her neck. If you wish to use a hearing loop, please ask the person at the Library's Front Desk prior to the meeting for the hearing loop.
