Recent research highlighted by The Washington Post suggests that even 10 minutes of drawing repetitive patterns can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, improve focus, and promote a greater sense of well-being. Inspired by these benefits, this class offers an opportunity to slow down, be creative, and enjoy the relaxing process of mindful drawing.
In each session, you'll learn a variety of pattern-based drawing techniques inspired by the Zentangle method and create your own unique black-and-white artwork on a 3.5 x 3.5 inch card. No artistic experience is required. The emphasis is on exploration, relaxation, and discovery rather than producing a perfect piece of art.
Instructor Elena Strunk, who has taught several watercolor classes for the Village, has filled sketchbooks with pattern-based artwork since attending an informal workshop many years ago. She looks forward to sharing the creativity, joy, and sense of accomplishment that first inspired her to explore this engaging art form.
Limited to 8 people.
Note: This class is inspired by the Zentangle method but is not affiliated with or endorsed by Zentangle, Inc.
