“The Future of NATO — and Why This Matters.”
Rosanne "Rose" LeVitre is a retired Navy Rear Admiral and civilian Senior National Intelligence Officer with extensive experience in U.S. political-military alliances. She has worked at the national, regional and tactical/field levels, including crises situations such as the Gulf War, the 9-11 attacks, natural disasters and leveraging both existing alliance support and facilitating new foreign partnerships.
Rose will describe a few real world experiences demonstrating the criticality of allied support during a crisis (intelligence, operations, logistics), and will explore the uncertain future of NATO and by extension other foreign partnerships given recent international developments.
“One Step Forward, Two Steps Back.”
Lars Hanson is a retired Navy Commander, a nuclear-trained career submarine officer whose later training included nuclear weapons. Following his Navy career, he operated at the national level in problem areas such as Bosnia and the Middle East.
Lars will describe what was accomplished by the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (the nuclear deal between Iran and several states including the United States), how that compares with the Trump MOU with Iran and subsequent developments, and where that all leaves us in dealing with the Iranian nuclear program.
